ROME, NY - Utica University's men's and women's golf teams competed in the Empire 8's fall events. The men competed in the Empire 8 Fall Championship, while the women battled in the Empire 8 Invitational. Both teams placed fourth in team scoring in their competitions. The rounds were hosted at Teugega Country Club in Rome, NY.

Alaina Weaver (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit Valley Central) had the highest individual placement of any Pioneer, coming in 5th place withher +40 finish. Nathan Macdonald (Canton, MA/Canton) (10th) and Neil Roman (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (16th) led the men with finishes of +14 and +17. Three Pioneer men finished tied for 20th place with +19 two-day scorecards. Claire Draper (Watertown, NY/Watertown) and Jordan Dorrity (Constableville, NY/South Lewis Central) finished inside the top 20 with scores of +55 and +60.

In the men's team scoring, the Pioneers turned in scores of +32 and +30 for a total of +62. SUNY Canton fell from their day one-leading +21 to tie with Utica at +62. On the flipside, St. John Fisher jumped from their fourth-best +28 to winning team scoring with a +43 score. The women's team tallied the most strokes both days of the tournament, slotting in at 4th.

The event concludes the season for the men's team, as play will halt until the spring season. The women's team will play in one more event before wrapping up their fall play, the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Fall Preview. The event will be take place next weekend, October 18th and 19th.
