Box Score Cobleskill, NY (9/12/12)- The Utica College volleyball team improved to 4-1 on the season, Wednesday with a 3-2 win (21-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22,15-10) over SUNY Cobleskill. 

The Pioneers fell down 2-0, before battling back and taking the next three sets for the come-from-behind victory.  Junior Hayley Strife (Lowville, NY/Lowville) led the way for UC with six aces, seven kills, two solo blocks, and two block assists, while sophomores Cassandra Manzer (Portcrane, NY/Chenango Valley) (15 kills, 15 digs), Madison Bayer (Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip) (13 kills), Kellee Furno (Baltimore, MD/Maryvalle) (30 assists), and Chelsea Lauria (Erieville, NY/Cazenovia) (11 assists) all had impressive showings.

The Pioneers have already surpassed their win total from last year, just one week into the 2012 season.  Utica returns to action Friday as it travels to Schenectady, NY for the Union Invitational.  The first game starts at 6 p.m. as UC faces off against host, Union College.
