Box Score Alfred, NY (9/21/12)- The Utica College volleyball team dropped its first conference game (25-13, 25-12, 25-11) to new Empire 8 member, Houghton College at the Empire 8 crossover tournament at Alfred University, Friday.
The Pioneers fall to 4-7 on the season, while Houghton improves to 6-6.
Sophomore
Cassandra Manzer (Portcrane, NY/Chenango Valley) led the Pioneers with five digs, four kills, and two blocks, while classmate
Kellee Furno (Baltimore, MD/Maryvalle) had a team-high 13 assists.
Alyssa Nicotera (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills) had three kills, one ace, and one dig and
Briona Enny (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) had five digs.
Utica returns to action Saturday as it faces off against Elmira College at 10 a.m. followed by a tilt against Alfred University at 3 p.m.
