Samantha Spohler (East Durham, NY/Cairo Durham) led UC with three shots on goal, while junior Caitlin Smith had a game-high 11 saves.

Smith Rock Solid: Junior
Caitlyn Smith (Waterville, NY/Madison) has shut the door in net for the Pioneers… The Waterville, NY native leads the conference in saves (67), is second in save percentage (.882), and fourth in goals against average (.98)…. She also has four shutouts on the season.
Hillman in for Long Haul: Senior
Jaime Hillman (Hornell, NY/Hornell) has played every minute this season… She has helped the Pioneers shut down opposing teams, allowing just one goal per game… She also has one goal on the season.
Scouting Houghton: The Highlanders are currently 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the Empire 8… They are coming off a 2-0 loss to Nazareth on Wednesday… Houghton is led by sophomore Stephany Ellison, senior Jen Bowman, and sophomore Kathryn Hornibrook… Ellison has six goals and three assists, while Bowman (five goals, three assists) and Hornibrook (five goals, one assist) are second and third in scoring on the team, respectively.
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers return home Saturday, October 6, as they host St. John Fisher College… The Empire 8 Conference match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
