Utica, NY (9-8-12) – Eight Pioneers found the back of the net Saturday as the Utica College men's soccer team rolled to an 8-1 victory against Medgar Evers on a rainy afternoon at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. Sophomore

Kyle Cupka (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug Regional) led UC with one goal and one assist each.
Junior Jonathan Peterson opened up the scoring just .48 into the contest as he lofted a shot over the goalie to take an early 1-0 lead. The unassisted score was Peterson's third goal of the season.
A little over three minutes later, at 3:50, senior
Daniel Garcia (Fairport, NY/Fairport) rifled a shot from 30 yards out and found the back right corner for his first goal of the season as UC pushed to a 2-0 lead.
Following 16 plus minutes of quiet play, Medgar Evers was flagged with a yellow card resulting in a penalty kick for Utica. UC converted as junior captain
Chris Perkins (Charlton, MA/Saint John's of Shrewsbury) booted a low ball into the left corner insuring UC with a 3-0 edge.

Kevin McAllister (Boxford, MA/Masconomet Regional) put back a rebound off a shot from Cupka for the Pioneers fourth goal of the first half. Cupka would score a goal of his own, a little over two minutes later at 31:33, to give UC a 5-0 advantage.
The visitors got on the board at 33:07 as Zeakiel Daley converted a penalty kick for the Cougars lone goal of the contest and trailed 5-1 heading into the half.
UC proved to strong however as it came out and added three second half goals for its third win of the early season. Junior

Jordan Senay (Lockport, NY/Lockport) and Fotino tallied UC's second half scores as Coach Watson's squad rolled to an 8-1 win.
Five Pioneers registered their first colligiate goal in the contest. UC outshot the Cougars 19-3 on the day while registering a 9-0 advantage on corner kicks.
UC returns to action Sunday as it faces Lehman College in day two of the UC Invitational. The contest is set for 2:30 p.m. at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
