Box Score St. John Fisher 60, Utica 44 - Women's Basketball Final

Meghan Fiore (Epping, NH/Epping) recorded her ninth double-double of the season, however it was not enough as the Utica College women's basketball team fell to host St. John Fisher College 60-44, Friday night. Fiore led the team with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while freshman Marcy Miceli added 12 points in the losing effort.
The Cardinals opened the game with an 8-2 run in the first 3:32 of the contest. After nearly 12 minutes of back and forth action, the Pioneers took their first lead of the game with 4:43 left as Fiore put in a layup for two of her 14 points. St. John Fisher responded, but a layup from sophomore
Marissa Kahane (Sayville, NY/Sayville) with just 23 seconds remaining in the half sent the Pioneers into the locker room with just a one-point deficit.
With help from Camaryn Buckner, who scored a game-high 22 points, the home team used a 22-6 run midway through the second half to take control of the game for good.
Senior
Brittany Baudanza (Staten Island, NY/Staten Island Tech) and junior
Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) each added six points for UC, while Kahane,
Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone), and
Christy Traglia (Mohawk, NY/Mohawk) chipped in with two points each.
The Cardinals, now winners of four straight, improve to 9-10 on the year (6-4 Empire 8). Meanwhile, the Pioneers fall to 9-10 on the year and 5-4 in the conference. UC looks to rebound Saturday as it takes on Alfred University. Game time is 2 p.m. Fisher will welcome Houghton College, Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
