Utica, NY (10/11/13)- The Utica College women's soccer team returns to action this weekend following a ten-day break… On Saturday, the Pioneers host Houghton College, before traveling to Alfred for an Empire 8 Conference match up against the Saxons… Saturday's game will be at 12 p.m. while Sunday's kick off is scheduled for 2 p.m.

SCORING STRUGGLES: UC has had difficulty finding the back of the net recently, as it has been shutout in its last four contests… The Last time UC scored more than one goal was a 5-1 victory over SUNYIT on Sept. 18.
LEADING THE WAY: Junior
Alana Fitzpatrick (Cheshire, CT/Holy Cross) has a team-best nine points (four goals, one assist), followed by
Jenna Hughes (Brookfield, NY/Brookfield) and
Samantha Matthews (Valley Falls, NY/Tamarac), who each have two goals and two assists.
ENDERS HANGING TOUGH: Freshman
Jamie Enders (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) has compiled a .802 save percentage and a 2.13 goals against average.
SCOUTING HOUGHTON: The Highlanders are 8-2 overall and they are coming off a 1-0 loss to Nazareth on Tuesday… They are led by junior Stephany Ellison and sophomore Shawna Sprout… Ellison has a team-high 21 points on eight goals and five assists, while Sprout boasts an impressive .868 save percentage and a .56 goals against average… This will be just the second meeting ever between the two teams… Last year, Houghton handed the Pioneers a 3-0 loss.
SCOUTING ALFRED: The Saxons are 4-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference… They are coming off a 3-0 win over Wells on Monday… Alfred is led by Nicole Lobur, who has five goals for ten points this season… The Pioneers are 10-1 against Alfred dating back to 2002… Last year, UC fell to Alfred 1-0 in double overtime.
LOOKING AHEAD: UC will travel to St. John Fisher next Saturday for an E8 contest against the Cardinals… Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
