(10/17/13)- The Utica College volleyball team gets back in action as it heads to the Hartwick College Holiday Inn Invitational this weekend. On Friday, the Pioneers take on Oneonta State at 6 p.m. and the City College of New York at 8 p.m. Saturday, UC will face Lebanon Valley College at 10 a.m. and host Hartwick College at 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: Utica broke a six-game losing streak in the final game of the Ithaca College Invitational… The Pioneers defeated Wells College 3-1… Junior Cassandra Manzer (Portcrane, NY/Chenango Valley) led the way for UC, recording a season-high 18 kills… Laura Homer-Gunther (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit) had ten kills and three blocks… Blandi Blaszak had nine kills and a game-high seven blocks.

ALL-TOURNAMENT:  Chelsea Lauria (Erieville, NY/Cazenovia) was Utica's lone representative on the All-Tournament team after her performance over the four matches.

RATING THE RED DRAGONS: SUNY Oneonta enters the weekend at 10-13 overall and 2-4 in the SUNYAC… The Red Dragons lost 3-0 to New Paltz last time out… Jill Darpino leads the team with 167 kills for an average of 2.23 per set… Erica Darpino is second with 146 kills… Kristina Pelaccio has twice as many digs as any other player on the team with 353 digs… Erica Darpino leads the team with 79 total blocks on the season.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS: The City College of New York heads to Hartwick riding a two-game winning streak… The Beavers are 8-14 overall and 3-4 in conference play… Leticia Marotti leads the team in five of the six major statistical categories… Marotti has totaled 249 kills, 191 digs, and 18 blocks… Joseph Saye-Chantl is second with 154 kills this year… Victorio Del Toro has dished out a team-high 357 assists… Quispe Veralucia ranks second on the team with 158 total digs.

LEBANON VALLEY THE FAVORITE: The Dutchwomen come into the weekend riding the highs of an eight-game winning streak… Lebanon Valley is 21-3 overall and 7-0 in conference play… Greta Weidemoyer has recorded a team-high 265 kills on the season… Kayla Confer ranks second with 184 kills… Megan Schoch and Alli Quirk have each hit the triple-digit mark in kills… Kacey Musselman, Allie Garrett, and Jess Finlayson each average over three digs per set… Weidemoyer leads the team with 46 blocks on the year.

HARTWICK THE HOST: Hartwick College welcomes the weekend at a 7-16 overall mark and 3-4 in conference play… The Hawks have lost two straight after they won their previous three matches… Hannah Strom leads the Hawks with 183 kills… Dana Martin ranks second with 158 kills… Christina Vitale leads the Hawks in digs with 236… Five different Hawks have over 100 digs… Taylor Vonasek has recorded a team-high 58 blocks for the year.

LAST YEAR'S INVITATIONAL: The Pioneers went 1-3 last year at the Hartwick Invitational… UC was downed by Lebanon Valley College and Keuka College before defeating SUNY Cobleskill… The Pioneers lost to SUNY Plattsburgh 3-0 in the finale.

LOOKING AHEAD: UC prepares for "Senior Night" Wednesday, October 23 against the Sage Colleges. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
