Volleyball Falls at SUNYIT

Cassandra Manzer had ten kills on the night
Box Score Marcy, NY (10/9/13)- The Utica College volleyball team lost to cross town rival, SUNYIT, 3-0  Wednesday night in non-conference action.  Junior Cassandra Manzer (Portcrane, NY/Chenango Valley) led the way with ten kills. 

The Pioneers lost in straight sets, 25-19, 25-13, 25-18.  Sophomore Lora Allen (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) had a team-best 16 assists, while Alexis Lyon (Prospect, NY/Holland Patent) and Diamond DeVane (Ridge, NY/Longwood) led the squad with seven digs each.  Chelsea Lauria (Erieville, NY/Cazenovia) had six kills, while Laua Homer-Gunther and Brandi Blaszak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) each had five kills.  Allen, DeVane, and senior captain Liz Sacco (Franklin, Mass. /Franklin) also recorded kills.

The Wildcats improve to 24-1 on the season, and currently have the longest active winning streak in the nation.  The Pioneers moves to 6-14 on the season.  UC will travel to Ithaca, NY this weekend for the Ithaca College Invitational.  On Friday, Utica will take on the host Bombers at 3:30 p.m. followed by a tilt against Messiah College at 7:30 p.m.  On Saturday the Pioneers face Medialle College at 12:15 p.m. followed by Wells College at 2:30 p.m.
