Utica, NY (11/22/13)- The Utica College women's basketball team returns home Saturday for its third game in five days as the Pioneers take on Sage for their annul Faculty Appreciation Game.  Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: UC is fresh off an 81-73 win over RPI on Thursday evening for its first win of the young season… Senior Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) had her first double-double of the season, netting 14 points and bringing down 13 rebounds, while five other players scored in the double digits to lead the Pioneers… Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) also had 14 points, while Mary Miceli (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle), Calypso Carty (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks West), Kelcei Edmonds (Pittsburgh, PA/Shady Side Academy), and Marissa Kahane (Sayville, NY/Sayville) also had ten or more points on the day… Freshman Kelsey Cowell (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) also had an impressive evening totaling nine rebounds, seven points and a game-high five dishes.

MICELI HONORED BY EMPIRE 8: Sophomore Mary Miceli (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) was named the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week, Monday after netting a career-high 42 points last Saturday as UC dropped its season-opener by one point, 78-77, to SUNY Potsdam… Miceli hit 15-of-28 from the floor, including 5-of-10 from behind the arc to go along with five boards, two steals and two assists.

HELPING OUT: Senior Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) is currently averaging 11 points and 11.3 rebounds per game… Kelsey Cowell (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) is second on the squad, averaging 7.3 boards, to go along with 4.7 points and 2.3 assists per game… Sophomore Kelcei Edmonds (Pittsburgh, PA/Shady Side Academy) has knocked down 8.3 points per game, and Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) has racked up 6.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. 

SCOUTING SAGE: The Gators are 2-1 on the season and they are coming off a huge 86-31 trounce of Southern Vermont on Wednesday… They are led by Megan Bowman and Carlee Hirt… Bowman has a team-best 12.7 points and 5.3 assists per game, while Hirt has 10.3 points and 5.7 boards per game.

AGAINST THE GATORS: Last season was the only meeting between the two teams in the last five years… The Pioneers topped Sage 79-55 last year…  Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) had 12 points and six rebounds, while Marcy Miceli had 11 points and five boards… Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) had a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with her nine points.

LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers have a full week off before they travel across town to take on Hamilton College on Sunday, Dec. 1… Game time is set for 2 p.m.
