Women's Lacrosse Falls to Clarkson in Triple Overtime

Box Score Potsdam, NY (3/15/13)- The Utica College women's lacrosse team dropped a heartbreaker Friday afternoon as it fell to host Clarkson University 12-11 in triple overtime.  Sophomore Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) led the way with four goals for the Pioneers.

UC led 6-5 at halftime, but the Golden Knights were able to outscore the Pioneers 4-3 in the second half to force overtime.  Freshman Courtney Wheeler (Ava, NY/Rome Free Academy) gave Utica a 10-9 lead in the first overtime, and Morgan DuPont (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) added her third of the day, but Clarkson answered with two goals of its own in the second overtime.  Christine Wright netted the game winner at 1:28 of the third overtime to lift the Golden Knights to victory. 

Wheeler finished the day with three goals, while sophomore Samantha Gebler (Vestal, NY/Vestal) had a goal and two assists.  Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) had four goals and a team-high four draw controls.  Junior Julia Primps (Ossining, NY/Ossining) also added an assist for UC. 

Senior Stephanie Belanger (Lewiston, ME/Lewiston) made nine saves in the loss while Clarkson's Kara DiNatale had eight saves.  UC (4-1) returns to action Tuesday, March 26 as it travels to Oswego State.  Game time is set for 4 p.m.
