Utica, NY (4/12/13) – The Utica College women's lacrosse team looks for its second straight win Saturday as it welcomes rival Ithaca College to the Charles A. Gaetano Stadium for an Empire 8 Conference show down.
Last Time Out: UC is coming off an 18-5 win over the visiting SUNYIT Wildcats on Wednesday where the Pioneers had five different players score at least two goals or more... Utica had an all-around balanced scoring attack compiling nine goals in both halves, with ten different players registering a goal… Sophomore
Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) was one of the standout players of the game scoring four goals to move her season total to 29... Junior
Vanessa Maines (Boxborough, MA/Acton-Boxborough Regional) also had a career day as she netted a career-high three goals on the day... The Pioneers had an impressive defensive showing only allowing eight shots on goal while firing 30 on the Wildcat net.

Closing in on a Milestone: Utica is now just two wins shy, sitting at 7-3, of tying the program record for wins in a single season (9) which was originally set back in 2008 when the Pioneers finished the year 9-8. UC has more wins this year after ten games than at the 10-game point in the last two seasons.
Pioneers Raise Awareness for Domestic Violence: UC is dedicating the game to domestic violence awareness... The Pioneer will be wearing purple socks and warm up shirts to show their support for victims of domestic violence… The team will also be holding a 50/50 raffle with all proceeds being donated to the Alex Kogut Memorial Award at New Hartford High School.
Scouting Ithaca: The Bombers are 6-4 so far this season and post a perfect 3-0 record in the Empire 8 Conference. Last time out the Bombers took down St. John Fisher in a 15-9 win on the road... The team is led by senior Tracy Rivas who leads the Bombers in goals (28) and is currently fourth in the Conference in points (41).
Against the Bombers: UC is 2-13 against Ithaca dating back to the 2001… Last year Utica suffered a 21-3 loss to the Bombers... The last time the Pioneers defeated Ithaca was a 14-12 win at home on March 5, 2009.
Looking Ahead: UC welcomes Alfred University to Charles A. Gaetano Stadium on Friday Mar. 19… Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m… This is a part of the Pioneers' four-game home stand, of which three games are in the Empire 8 Conference.
