Women's Lax Falls to Stevens

Patricia Kane netted one goal for Utica
Box Score Hoboken, NJ (4/27/13)- The Utica College women's lacrosse team dropped its final game of the season, 18-4, against host Stevens Institute of Technology in Empire 8 Conference action.  The loss spoiled Utica's chances of making it to the E8 Tournament for the first time since 2007.

Sophomore Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) led the Pioneers with two goals, while classmates Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) and Patricia Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) also tallied one goal each for UC.  Stephanie Belanger (Lewiston, ME/Lewiston) had 11 saves in the loss.

Utica was unable to shut down the potent Stevens offense, led by junior Kara Rafferty who exploded for eight goals and added one assist.

The Pioneers finish with a 9-6 overall record, and a 2-5 mark in the highly competitive Empire 8 Conference.  Nine wins in a season is the most in a single season in program history.  Utica will graduate two seniors, Stephanie Belanger (Lewiston, ME/Lewiston), and Lauren Gilmore (Marshfield, MA/Marshfield)
