Women's Lax Falls to Naz in E8 Play

Freshman Colleen Dowling had one goal for UC
Box Score Rochester, NY (4/7/13)- The Utica College women's lacrosse team dropped its second straight game as it fell to host Nazareth College 12-5 in Empire 8 Conference action Sunday afternoon.  Five different players scored for the Pioneers.

Nazareth jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first 5:25 of the contest before sophomore Morgan DuPont (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) netted her 18th goal of the season at 22:31 to cut the lead in half.  The Golden Flyers added two more scores in the final 20 minutes of the half and Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) also added her 10th tally of the season to send UC into halftime facing a 4-2 deficit.

The home team scored six straight goals in the first 20 minutes of the second frame, which all but sealed the victory.  UC added one goal each from Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport), Vanessa Maines (Boxborough, MA/Acton-Boxborough Regional), and Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville), but it was not enough as UC dropped its third game of the year and second in as many days.

Stephanie Belanger (Lewiston, ME/Lewiston) made nine saves in the loss, while Shelby Robinson and Tara Prosak combined for nine saves in net for Naz.

The Pioneers will return to action Wednesday as it hosts SUNYIT.  Game time is set for 3 p.m.
