Senior captain Kevin McAllister snapped his goalless streak in the Pioneers 4-0 win over Bard Saturday

Utica, NY (9/14/2013) – The Utica College men's soccer team scored four goals in the first half and never looked back as the Pioneers cruised to a 4-0 victory over host Bard College on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers have now won two in a row and moved their record to 2-3 on the year. Utica returns home to begin a three game home stand at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium on Wednesday when it takes on Hobart College in a non-conference contest at 7 p.m. The Pioneers open up Empire 8 Conference action next Saturday when they host the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College.
Senior captain
Kevin McAllister (Boxford, MA/Masconomet Regional) got the Pioneers on the board early when he netted his first goal of the season, and the 19th of his career, just 4:23 into the contest.
Alex Sheridan (East Islip, NY/St. John the Baptist) and
Greg Silvestro (West Sayville, NY/Connetquot) assisted on the game's first goal.
In the eighth minute junior
Shane Ruffing (Rochester, NY/Westborough) found the back of the net (unassisted), his second of the year, to put the Pioneers up by the score of 2-0. In the 26th minute senior
Jeffrey Cupka (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug Regional) found the net for the first time this season, his fifth career tally, as he headed home a goal off assists from
Brett Kaplan (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem) and
Dennis Runikera (Gaithersburg, MD/Northwood).
Freshman
Raine Owens (Pine Plains, NY/Stissing Mt. ) was able to record his first collegiate goal with less than four minutes to go in the first half off an assist by sophomore
Matt Beljan (Bedminster, PA/Christopher Dock).
Both teams were held scoreless in the second half and the final horn sounded with the Pioneers leading 4-0.
Senior
Anthony Caruso (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow) started the game in goal for UC but was relieved in the 17th minute to make way for back-up
David Abdou (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro). Abdou recorded two saves in net for the Pioneers.
Utica outshot the home team 26-3 on the afternoon and earned a 10-1 corner kick advantage.
