Utica, NY (9/16/2013) – The Utica College men's soccer team returns home Wednesday night to play host to Hobart College on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. following the UC women's soccer home-opener against SUNYIT (4 p.m.).

LAST TIME OUT: The Utica College men's soccer team scored four goals in the first half and never looked back as the Pioneers cruised to a 4-0 victory over host Bard College on Saturday afternoon … Senior captain Kevin McAllister (Boxford, MA/Masconomet Regional), junior Shane Ruffing (Rochester, NY/Westborough) , senior Jeffrey Cupka (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug Regional) and freshman Raine Owens (Pine Plains, NY/Stissing Mt. ) all scored for the Pioneers in the victory. 

HOME STAND: Utica returns home to begin a three game home stand at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium on Wednesday against Hobart and the Pioneers open up Empire 8 Conference action Saturday when they host the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College … UC will wrap up the three game home stand on Tuesday, Sept. 24th when it hosts Plattsburgh State at 7 p.m.

MCALLISTER GETS ON THE BOARD: Senior forward Kevin McAllister (Boxford, MA/Masconomet Regional) snapped a four game scoreless streak on Saturday with his first goal of the season to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead early against host Bard College … McAllister now has 19 career goals and 50 career points. 

RUFFING GETTING IT DONE: Junior Shane Ruffing (Rochester, NY/Westborough) leads the team with two goals this season … In 26 career games he now has seven goals and two assists for a total of 16 career points.

STAT LINE: The Pioneers have outscored their opponents 7-6 this season and they also own a 27-17 shots on goal advantage … UC is currently averaging 13.2 shots per game …

QUICK STARTERS: The Pioneers have outscored their opponents 6-1 in the first half this season … However, UC has been outscored 5-1 in the second half, a stat Coach Watson would like to see change as the season progresses.
