Utica, NY (9/18/13)- The Utica College volleyball team dropped its fourth straight contest as it fell to Oswego State Wednesday evening at the Clark Athletic Center.  The Pioneers lost in straight sets, 16-25, 13-25, 16-25.

Cassandra Manzer (Portcrane, NY/Chenango Valley) had a team-high six kills, while Lora Allen (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) led the squad with 11 assists, and Briona Enny (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) had 12 digs.  Freshman Brandi Blaszak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) helped out with five kills and one block, while Laura Homer-Gunther (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit), Enny, Ashley Jones (Charlton, NY/Galway) and Hayley Strife (Lowville, NY/Lowville) chipped in with two kills each.  Madison Bayer (Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip), Leah Kazalski (Greene, NY/Greene), Chelsea Lauria (Erieville, NY/Cazenovia), Liz Sacco (Franklin, Mass. /Franklin), Alyssa Nicotera (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills), and Carly Lonczak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) also registered kills on the evening. 

UC moves to 4-6 on the year, while the Lakers improve to 7-6.  The Pioneers travel to Oneonta, NY this weekend to open up Empire 8 Conference play at the E8 crossover hosted by Hartwick College.  UC will take on the Hawks at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon, before taking on Houghton College Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by Stevens Institute of Technology at 12:30 p.m.
