Utica, NY (9/26/2013) - The Utica College men's soccer team will look to keep itself at the top of the Empire 8 Conference as the Pioneers hit the road to visit St. John Fisher on Saturday. The match will begin at Noon at Fisher's Growney Stadium.

LAST TIME OUT: Plattsburgh's Matt Hamilton broke a scoreless tie in the 81st minute as the Cardinals defeated UC on Wednesday night. The Pioneers outshot the Cardinals 3-1 in the first half but were unable to capitalize in the opening frame. Meanwhile, Plattsburgh controlled play in the second and decisive half, outshooting UC 8-1 and picking up the game-winner with less than 10 minutes to go. Four Pioneer players had one shot in the game, and senior goalkeeper
Anthony Caruso (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow) made three saves.
TOUGH CUSTOMERS: This season, the Pioneer defense has not allowed more than two goals in any contest that has ended in regulation time. In five of eight games, the Pioneers have allowed one goal or less, including two shutout victories.
McAllister Heating Up: After a slow start in which he did not register a goal through four games, senior
Kevin McAllister (Boxford, MA/Masconomet Regional) has three goals in the last four games, including the game-winner last Saturday against Nazareth. With his recent hot streak, McAllister has once again grabbed the team lead in goal scoring.
SECOND HALF STRUGGLES: Utica has been outshot 58-42 and outscored 8-3 in the second half this season. However, Utica has outshot opposing teams 48-27 and has outscored them 7-1 through the first 45 minutes.
READY FOR ROUND TWO: The Pioneers and Cardinals will both be playing their second Empire 8 conference game of the season.
SCOUTING FISHER: The Cardinals are 2-5-1 this season. On Tuesday, Fisher was blanked by the University of Rochester, 4-0. Goalkeeper Josh Klein had four saves as the Cardinals were outshot 17-3. Fisher started the season 2-0 and has not won a game since Sept. 1 vs. Wilmington, despite outshooting their opposition 113-99. Starting goalkeeper Kyle Metcalfe has managed a save percentage of .676 and a goals allowed average of 1.52.
LAST TIME THEY MET: Fisher's Jake Quattrini scored in the 91st minute to give Fisher the 2-1 overtime win at Charles A. Gaetano stadium.
RECENTLY AGAINST SJFC: In the last ten years the Pioneers are 3-8 against the Cardinals with the last victory coming in 2012 by the score of 3-0. Fisher has won three of the last four meetings. Six of the 11 meetings have been decided by one goal.
NEXT TIME OUT:Â Utica returns home Tuesday to square off with Morrisville. The match begins at 7 p.m.
