(9/30/13)- The Utica College men's soccer team seeks its third win in four games as it hosts Morrisville State on Tuesday night at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: Sophomore Greg Silvestro (West Sayville, NY/Connetquot) led the way with two first half goals, and junior Shane Ruffing (Rochester, NY/Westborough) added a third as UC shut out E8 rival St. John Fisher, 3-0… Senior goalkeeper Anthony Caruso (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow) made four saves in the shutout victory.

SLUGGISH SCORING: Saturday's three-goal outburst was Utica's best total of the season… UC has been shut out three times this season, and its average of 1.44 goals per contest is good for sixth out of the conference's eight teams.

DEFENSIVE DOMINATION: While the Pioneers have struggled to score at times, their defense has been up to par in the vast majority of contests this season... Utica has allowed just 1.11 goals per game, which is good for third in the Empire 8 Conference, and second among tournament-eligible teams... UC has allowed one goal or less six times this season, including three shutouts. 

SILVESTRO NABS E8 HONORS: Sophomore Greg Silvestro (West Sayville, NY/Connetquot) was named the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week, Monday... The West Sayville, NY native tallied two goals, including the game-winner, as UC picked up a 3-0 conference victory at St. John Fisher on Saturday. His first goal came off a free kick, and the other on a corner kick header to lift Utica to a 2-0 halftime lead that it would never surrender.  On the season, he is currently tied for the team-lead with three goals and sits in second in scoring (seven points).

CARUSO READY FOR PRIME TIME: Anthony Caruso (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow)'s goals against average of 1.204 ranks third in the Empire 8 Conference…. He is also fifth in the E8 with a .722 save percentage.

SCOUTING MORRISVILLE:  Morrisville State is currently 6-2-2 overall and has a 2-0-1 record in NEAC conference play... The Mustangs score quite often, at a clip of 2.4 goals per game, and their goals against average of 0.84 ranks second in the NEAC... Goaltender Rob Larkin has four shutouts this season and has not allowed more than one goal in any game this year... Joe Sheehan ranks fourth in the NEAC with five goals... This will be the first-ever meeting between Utica and Morrisville. 

ON DECK: The Pioneers head west to take on Houghton College on Saturday... The opening kick will take place at 4 p.m.
