Box Score 2 Potsdam, NY (October 18, 2014) – The Utica College volleyball team lost back-to-back contests Saturday at the Clarkson Tournament. The Pioneers lost both matches 3-0 as they were defeated by SUNY Canton (25-19, 25-21, 25-12) and host Clarkson (25-11, 25-15, 25-10). UC was led by
Brandi Blaszak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) who tallied eight digs and
Briona Enny (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) who posted 23 digs on the afternoon.
Utica has now lost nine straight as its falls to 8-19 overall and returns to the hardwood Wednesday as it journeys across town to face SUNYIT (Marcy, NY). The Canton Kangaroos move their season mark to 18-5 while the Golden Knights improve to 25-3.
In game against Canton, UC battled in the first two sets losing by a combined 10 points however the Roo's turned in on in the third to close out the match, 25-12. Blaszak and
Samantha Hoerning (Farmingville, NY/Sachem East) each recorded four kills while
Laura Homer-Gunther (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit) chipped with three for UC. Enny racked up 15 digs and Laura Allen put up 13 assist, both team high's.
In the second match, the host Golden Knights did not allow more than 15 points in a set to U Cas they recorded their 25
th victory of the season. Blaszak, Enny and Allen all registered team-high's. Blaszak had four kills, Enny eight digs and Allen seven assists.
