Hoboken, NJ (October 4, 2014) – The Utica College men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision against host Stevens Institute of Technology in Empire 8 Conference action at DeBaun Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers, in the midst of a four game road trip, are now 4-5-2 overall and 2-1 in Empire 8 play. Stevens improved to 7-3 overall and the Ducks now sit atop the conference standings with an unblemished 3-0 record in E8 play.
Stevens' opened up a 2-0 lead in the first 8:21 of play after consecutive goals just 4:10 apart from Chris Renna and Joe Cellitti. Renna headed home his fourth goal of the season to open the scoring at 4:11. Cellitti netted his third goal of the season, after a long pass from Colin Phillips, to give the Ducks an early 2-0 advantage at the 8:21 marker.
Both teams were held scoreless for the remainder of the contest as the Ducks came away with the two goal victory.

David Abdou (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) stopped five shots on the afternoon, while Stevens' goalie Mike Renna did not have to record a save in the contest.
Stevens earned a 19-3 shot advantage on the afternoon and the home team also won the corner kick battle 2-1.
Utica caps off its four game road trip on Tuesday when the Pioneers travel to Skidmore College for a 7 p.m. matchup. UC returns to conference play back at home next Saturday when the Pioneers host Ithaca College at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium at 4 p.m.
