Rochester, NY (11/22/14)- The Utica College men's basketball team fell in the finals of the University of Rochester Tipoff Tournament, losing to host U of R 76-53 Saturday evening. Senior
Aaron Nevins (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) led Utica with 16 points and three assists.
With the win, Rochester remains unbeaten at 3-0, while the Pioneers drop to 1-2 on the season. Nevins and
Conor Maisch (Kingston, NY/John A. Coleman) were named to the All-Tournament team.
Maisch finished the game with 11 points, while classmate
Chris Jeffers (Albany, NY/Bishop Maginn) chipped in with a team-best 11 boards, including nine off the defensive glass. The Utica bench added 16 points, led by
Dillan Veeder (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie),
Griffin Kelly (Watervliet, NY/Watervliet),
Ian Henderson (Chateaugay, NY/Chateaugay), and
Jacob Palmer (Kingston, NY/John A. Coleman).
The Pioneers return to action Tuesday as they host crosstown rival SUNY IT. The game is set to start at 4 p.m. at the Clark Athletic Center.
