UC Rolls to a 30-point Victory Over Cross-Town Cats

Utica, NY (November 22, 2014) – 11 Pioneers scored Saturday afternoon to lead the Utica College women's basketball team to a 30 point victory, 68-38, against local non-conference rival SUNYIT at the Clark Athletic Center. Senior Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) tallied a double-double to led the way with 10 points and a game-high 16 rebounds

The visitors opened up the contest scoring the first two points however that would be their only lead of the game as UC answered with a 25-5 run over the next 13 minutes to work a 25-7 lead. Six different Pioneers chipped in on the 20 point rush including back-to-back 3-pointers by Mary Miceli (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) and Christy Traglia (Mohawk, NY/Mohawk) followed by an old-school three-point play by Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) converting a layup and foul shot. The teams each scored eight points apiece to close out the first half with Utica leading by 18 scores, 33-15.

The second half was all UC as it managed a 25 point lead, 55-30, at the 10 minute mark and went on to win by 30 points to get back to .500 on the season.

Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) led all scorers with a game-high 14 points while Calypso Carty (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks West) and Christy Traglia (Mohawk, NY/Mohawk) combined for 14 points (seven each) and 10 boards. 

UC evens its overall record at 2-2 and is right back on the hardwood Sunday as it travels to La Plume, PA to face Keystone College. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.

The Wildcats were guided by Erika Charbonneau's team-high 12 points.  SUNYIT falls to 1-1 on the season and returns to the court next Saturday as it face cross-town foe Hamilton College in Clinton, NY.
