Men's Soccer Falls to Ithaca in OT in Empire 8 Semifinal

Hoboken, NJ (November 7, 2014) – The No. 3 seeded Utica College men's soccer team lost to No. 2 seed Ithaca College, 1-0 in overtime Friday evening in the semifinals of the Empire 8 Conference Championships at the De Baun Athletic Complex at Stevens Institute of Technology.

With the loss, the Pioneers drop to 7-9-3 on the year and are eliminated from the conference tournament. This marks the second time this season Utica has fallen to Ithaca by a 1-0 score and the fourth one-goal game UC has lost on the year.

Throughout the first 90 minutes of play, Ithaca held a 11-3 advantage but neither team was able to score.  The Bombers finally broke the deadlock in the 99th minute as Brandon Glass netted his second of the year as he fired a bullet from 25 yards out.

Senior David Abdou (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) had four saves on the day, while Ithaca's Jordan Gentile had two saves.  Sophomore Joseph Hunter (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) led UC with two shots on goal.

The Pioneers will bid farewell to three seniors including Anthony Fotino (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central), Chris Stashko (Apalachin, NY/Apalachin), and David Abdou (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro)
