Canton, NY (December 5, 2014) – The Utica College men's basketball team lost its third straight Friday evening to host SUNY Canton, 78-67, on the road in non-conference play. The Pioneers were led by Conor Maisch (Kingston, NY/John A. Coleman)'s 26 point effort.

UC falls to 2-5 overall on the season and returns to the hardwood Monday Dec. 29th in Pittsford, NY for the Woodcliff Hotel & Spa Tournament hosted by St. John Fisher.  Utica tips off against Washington & Jefferson College on Monday at 6 p.m.

The Roos improve to 4-2 on their overall campaign and are back in action Saturday as they welcome Houghton College for a 6 p.m. tip-off.  Canton was led by Sam Annorh who netted 25 points on 8-of-17 shooting including 7-of-8 from the charity stripe.

The home team jumped out to a 10-2 lead, over the first five minutes, before the Pioneer offense woke up.  Maisch led a push over the next few minutes with six points to pull UC within two, 15-13, at 13:31.  However, the Roos answered with a 25-19 run closing out the half with a 40-32 advantage. Maisch and senior point guard Aaron Nevins (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) guided Utica in the first half with a combined 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting while the rest of the squad managed a dismal 3-of-12.

Canton controlled the second half for the most part as it moved to an 18 point cushion, 69-51, with just under seven minutes to play.  UC worked a final strut over the remaining minutes only to lose by 11 scores, 78-67.
