Utica, NY (3/10/14)- The Utica College women's lacrosse team looks to keep its momentum going Tuesday as it hosts Clarkson University.  Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers downed SUNY Potsdam in thrilling fashion Saturday afternoon as junior Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) scored the game-winner with just eight seconds remaining to defeat the Bears 7-6… Freshman Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) had six of UC's seven goals and also assisted on Kane's game-winner to lead all scorers… Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport) had three assists, while Kane and junior Morgan DuPont (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) each had one helper on the day… Sophomore Erin Jacobson (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) had nine saves in the win.

FRESHMAN ON FIRE: First year player Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) has gotten off to a great start, as she is second in the conference with 3.67 goals per game… Plunkett scored nine goals and had one assist in two wins for Utica last week… On Wednesday she had three goals to help UC top Skidmore 7-5… She followed that up with six goals and added an assist on the game-winner with eight seconds left to lead the Pioneers past Potsdam, 7-6. 

HELPING OUT: Junior Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) is second on the team in goals (six) and points (eight)… she has averaged 2.0 goals per game so far this season and has collected eight ground balls and seven draw controls… Classmate Morgan DuPont (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) is third on the squad with five points (one goal, four assists). 

JACOBSON NAMED GOALIE OF THE WEEK: Sophomore Erin Jacobson (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) was named the Empire 8 Goalie of the Week, Monday… Jacobson picked up her first two collegiate wins in back-to-back games last week… On Wednesday she had eight saves to lead Utica to a 7-5 win over Skidmore… She followed that up with a career-high nine saves in Utica's 7-6 win against Potsdam… She currently leads the conference in goals against average (7.00) and save percentage (.533). 

SCOUTING CLARKSON: The Golden Knights are 1-1 overall and they are coming off their first win of the season, a 10-8 victory over Keuka College on Saturday… They are led by sophomore Christine Wright and freshman Paige Fayette… Wright has a team-high eight points (three goals, five assists), while Fayette leads the squad with six goals… Utica is 6-8 all-time against the Golden Knights… Last year UC fell to Clarkson 12-11 in triple overtime… Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) had four goals, while Morgan DuPont (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) and Courtney Wheeler (Ava, NY/Rome Free Academy) each had three tallies.

LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers will travel to New Hampshire for their next two contests on March 20 and 21… UC takes on Colby-Sawyer College on Thursday, March 20 at 4 p.m. before traveling to New England College on Friday for a 1 p.m. game.
