Matt Rogers (East Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) guided the Pioneers with its lone victory on the day as he won his singles match (2-6, 6-4, 7-6) in the second set.
UC had to forfeit three sets by default with only four players available to compete. Utica returns to action this weekend for back-to-back matches on the road against Alfred University and The Sage College's. Houghton improves to 3-6 overall this season and is back in action Saturday as its hosts Hartwick College for a 2 p.m. start.
