Pioneers Fall to Naz in E8 Play

Patricia Kane had one assist and a team-best three draw controls
Box Score Rochester, NY (4/13/14)- The Utica College women's lacrosse team had its three-game winning streak snapped Sunday as it fell to host Nazareth College 16-7 in Empire 8 Conference action.
 
The Golden Flyers scored eight goals in each half to pick up their second Empire 8 Conference victory of the season.  The Pioneers fall to 8-4 overall and 3-3 in the E8.  UC is now 0-6 against Naz in the last six years. 

Freshman Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) led the Pioneers with two goals and one assist.  She now has 33 goals on the season.  Junior Morgan DuPont (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) scored one goal and added her conference-leading 32nd assist, while Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville), Vanessa Maines (Boxborough, MA/Acton-Boxborough Regional), Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School), and Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport) each had one goal as well.  Patricia Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) also had one assist and led the team with three draw controls. 

Nazareth's Kate Rothrock had a game-high three goals and three assists, while teammate Gabrielle Charles also had three goals. 

Sophomore Erin Jacobson (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) had two saves in the loss, while Tara Prosak and Ashley Kirch combined for 11 saves for Naz. 

The Pioneers return to action Wednesday as they travel to Morrisville State.  The non-conference match up against the Mustangs is scheduled for 4 p.m.
