Pioneers Grab 1st Victory of Spring: Utica collected its first win of the spring season Sunday as it edged the Sage College's, 5-4, on the road at the Sage Tennis Courts … with the win, the Pioneers move to 2-7 overall on the season while the Gators remain winless at 0-11 … Senior
Daniel Fadden (Lakeland, NY/Bishop Ludden) and sophomore
Raphael Warnon (Rock Tavern, NY/Washingtonville ) led UC with three points in the win as the duo won both of their singles matches and also posted a victory in doubles play … Sophomore
Matt Rogers (East Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) also won his singles match and was partnered with Warnon in doubles.
Fadden's Final Run: Senior
Daniel Fadden (Lakeland, NY/Bishop Ludden) has had a solid final campaign registering a 2-5 record in singles play and another victory in doubles competition … In both of the Pioneers' victories, Fadden is 2-0 in singles and 1-1 in team play.
Raph & Rogers Double-Up: Sophomore's
Raphael Warnon (Rock Tavern, NY/Washingtonville ) and
Matt Rogers (East Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) has played solid in doubles competition this season registering a 2-1 record when they partner up ... The duo is among the Pioneer leaders in singles play as well with Rogers posting a team-best three wins and Warnon right behind with two.
Scouting the Ducks: SIT maintains a 9-9 overall mark on the season however is 6-0 in Empire 8 play … The Ducks last four losses came at the hands of ranked opponents including their last two by just one point … Stevens has only allowed two points in Empire 8 action; one to Nazareth and one to Ithaca.
3-Straight at the Friendly Confines: UC will wrap up the 2013-2014 campaign will three straight matches in six days at the Utica College Tennis Courts ... The Pioneers will welcome Empire 8 foe Hartwick College on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. start and then non-conference rival Keuka College on Thursday for a 3:30 volley … Utica will conclude their home stand and season on Sunday April 27
th when it hosts St. John Fisher College for a 1 p.m. afternoon start.
