Plunkett Guides Utica to Win over Morrisville

Box Score Morrisville, NY (4/16/14)- The Utica College women's lacrosse team downed host Morrisville State College 16-10 Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.  With the win, the Pioneers move to 9-4 on the year and tie the program record for wins in a single season.

Freshman Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) had a career day as she netted a season-best seven goals and added one assist to pace the Pioneers.  She also collected five draw controls and caused two turnovers.  Plunkett is now tied for the conference lead with 40 goals this season.  Morgan DuPont (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) also had an impressive outing, scoring two goals and adding five assist, while sophomore Courtney Wheeler (Ava, NY/Rome Free Academy) matched her season-high of three goals and added one assist. 

Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) moved her goal-scoring streak to 13 games as she scored two goals and dished out two assists.  Patricia Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) and Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport) also added one goal each to lead the Pioneers.  Sophomore Erin Jacobson (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) had 11 saves for her ninth win of the season, while her counterpart, Cailin Dunphy had 15 saves in the loss. 

The Pioneers, currently 3-3 in Empire 8 Conference action, return to action on Thursday, April 24th, as they take on Ithaca College in the final league game of the year.  Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Ithaca College.
