Utica, NY (4/23/14) - The Utica College women's lacrosse team is set for its final Empire 8 Conference game of the season as it travels to Ithaca College on Thursday.  The opening draw control is scheduled for 4 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: UC is coming off a 16-10 victory over non-conference opponent Morrisville State Wednesday afternoon ... Freshman Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) played her best game of the season so far, netting seven goals and an assist … Plunkett's 40 goals this season ranks second in the Empire 8 Conference … Junior Morgan DuPont (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) scored two goals and added five assists … Sophomore Courtney Wheeler (Ava, NY/Rome Free Academy) matched her season high of three goals and she added an assist … Junior Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) extended her goal scoring streak to 13 games as she registered two goals and two assists … Twin sister Patricia Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) and sophomore Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport) each added a goal and an assist … Sophomore goalie Erin Jacobson (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) saved 11 shots in her ninth victory of the season.
 
WHERE WE SIT: The Pioneers (9-4, 3-3 Empire 8) are tied for the most wins in a single season in program history … UC is currently in a tie for fourth place in the Empire 8 Conference with Nazareth College (3-2 E8) … The Golden Flyers controls their own destiny, as they would automatically qualify for the postseason by winning out … If Nazareth loses both of its final two conference games and the Pioneers defeat Ithaca, Utica would earn the fourth and final spot in the E8 Tournament … UC has won four of its last five games … Utica has also outscored its opponents 150-110 on the season and is averaging 11.69 goals per game.
 
DUPONT BREAKS ASSIST RECORD: With five assists on Wednesday, junior Morgan DuPont (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) continues to add on to the College's career assist record she broke last week, previously held by Tammy Kohanski '11 … DuPont now has 67 assists in her career, and her 37 assists this season are also a single-season record at UC … She currently leads the conference with 37 assists and 2.85 assists per game and is tied for first on the team with 46 points. 
 
LEADING THE WAY: Freshman Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) leads the team with 40 goals this season … Her 3.46 points per game ranks second on the team … Juniors Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) and Morgan DuPont (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) lead the Pioneers with 46 points … Kane is ranked second on the team with 37 goals scored.
 
SCOUTING ITHACA: The Bombers are 8-4 overall and 4-0 in the Empire 8 … They are coming off a dominating 19-1 victory over Alfred University … Ithaca is led by Ally Runyon, who has 38 points (33 goals, five assists) this season … In 12 games, goalie Emily Ross has a save percentage of .536 and has allowed 8.03 goals per game … UC has not defeated Ithaca since the 2009 season … Utica has lost the last four matchups by an average score of 15-5 … Ithaca is tied with Stevens for first in the Conference standings.
 
LOOKING AHEAD: UC will return to action Saturday, April 26 as it travels to Houghton for a match up against the Highlanders … The non-conference contest is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. … Utica wraps up the regular season at home against non-conference opponent Keuka College on April 30 … That contest starts at 4 p.m.
