Adriana Surprenant (Utica, NY/New York Mills Jr-Sr High) had both of Utica's goals in the first half… The second half was all New Paltz as the Hawks scored four unanswered goals for the win…
Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) had a season-high eight saves on the day.
STEELE-NORTON IS BACK: Senior
Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) has tallied a goal in every game so far this season, averaging 2.0 points per game…She is coming off a 41 point season (18 goals, five assists) a year ago and currently ranks first all-time, with 134 career points.
EYES ON MACKEY: Senior
Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central) has netted seven goals on the season so far… Mackey currently holds the top spot in the conference in points (14), points per game (4.67), goals (7), and goals per game (2.33)… Last season, she was named to the Empire 8 All-Conference first team for the third year in a row and was also named a Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III All-American last year…Her 133 points and 55 goals rank second all-time at UC.
ECKERT STEPPING UP: Senior
Chasity Eckert (Afton, NY/Afton Central) has tallied at least one point in each game this season… She is currently tied for second on the team with six points (two goals, two assists)… Last season she finished with 10 points (three goals, four assists).
SENIORS LEADING THE WAY: The senior class has scored all of Utica's goals this season… Mackey, Eckert, Steele-Norton,
Becki Vivacqua (Yorkville, NY/New York Mills Jr-Sr High), and
Adriana Surprenant (Utica, NY/New York Mills Jr-Sr High) have all tallied at least one goal, while Alaina Stojkovksi has also added one assist.
IN THE CAGE: Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) is coming off a game in which she matched her career-high of eight saves … She has 14 saves on the season so far with a save percentage of .667 after facing 33 shots.
SCOUTING HARTWICK: The Hawks (1-3) are coming off a 6-0 win over Morrisville on Tuesday… Mckenzie Bond leads the team with three goals and seven points, while goalie Yanna Boggio has a .833 save percentage.
AGAINST THE HAWKS: UC holds a 4-1 record against Hartwick in the last five years… Last season, the Pioneers won 5-0 with the help of a pair of goals from Mackey and a tally each from Steele-Norton and Stojkovski… The last time Hartwick defeated Utica was by way of a 1-0 margin in 2009.
