Utica, NY (9/16/2014)- The Utica College volleyball team returns home Wednesday to host non-conference opponent, SUNY Cobleskill. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers (4-5) spilt two games last weekend at the SUNY Canton tri-match... Following a 3-0 loss to the host Kangaroos, the Pioneers came back to defeat Johnson Sate 3-0... In the first game, sophomore Brandi Blaszak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) led the team with nine kills, while freshman Alaina Wickwire (Towanda, PA/Towanda) added four kills of her own... Senior Briona Enny (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) led the defensive side with 15 digs... In the second game, senior Ashley Jones (Charlton, NY/Galway) tailed a season-best 11 kills, while Blaszak added ten... Abaigail Mesenthin added six kills to help the offense alongside 29 assists from Lora Allen (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville)... Enny again led the defensive side with 10 digs.

ENNY LEADING THE DEFENSE: Briona Enny (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) is sitting on a team best 101 digs on nine games this season ranking her seventh in the Empire 8 for digs per game (3.54).

EMPIRE 8 STANDINGS: Brandi Blaszak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) is currently fourth in the conference for hitting percentage (.314) alongside teammate Lora Allen (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) who holds the third spot in the conference for assists per game (7.88).

SCOUTING COBLESKILL: The Fighting Tigers are coming off a tournament sweep at the Green Mountain College Quadrangular Meet improving their record to 6-2 on the season... Alex Worthington leads the offensive end with 46 kills while teammate Kim Cordova leads the defensive end with 81 digs alongside her is Raven Worthing with 80 digs of her own.

PAST MATCHES: Last season the Pioneers spilt their winnings with the Fighting Tigers through two matches... Utica able to defeat Cobleskill 3-2 in the first meeting between the two teams, but fell short in the second losing 3-1. 

LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers will head to the Empire 8 Cross Over Tournament at Nazareth on Saturday as they face Alfred University (1:30 p.m.) in the first match on the day, and Nazareth College (4 p.m.) in the second.
