Box Score  Utica, NY (9/17/14)- The Utica College volleyball team won its second straight game Wednesday as it downed visiting SUNY Cobleskill in straight sets, (25-14, 25-22, 25-18). 
 
Sophomore Brandi Blaszak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) led the Pioneers with 11 kills and added two blocks and two digs, while freshman Alaina Wickwire (Towanda, PA/Towanda) had nine kills and three digs.  Freshman Samantha Hoerning (Farmingville, NY/Sachem East) and senior Ashley Jones (Charlton, NY/Galway) each tallied eight kills on the day and juniors Laura Homer-Gunther (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit) and Lora Allen (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) combined for five kills.  Allen also added a game-best 32 assists.  Briona Enny (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) and Alexis Lyon (Prospect, NY/Holland Patent) each collected 11 digs to lead the Pioneers on the defensive end. 
 
Utica improves to 5-5 on the year, while Cobleskill falls to 6-3.  The Pioneers open up Empire 8 Conference play this weekend as they travel to Nazareth for a match up against Alfred University (1:30 p.m.) and Nazareth College (4 p.m.).
