Utica, NY (September 29, 2014) – The Utica College men's tennis team heads to Oswego State Wednesday for its final match of the Fall. The twilight match is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Oswego State Courts.

Season-Opener – UC Downed at Home by Cross-Town ContinentalsThe Utica College men's tennis team dropped its season-opener Saturday morning, 7-2, against local rival Hamilton College at the Utica College Tennis Courts. The Pioneers were led by freshman
Kevin Vo () who recorded his first collegiate win in the number one slot of singles play in three sets. UC falls to 0-1 overall on the season while the Continentals move their season mark to 2-0.
The Laker ReportOswego is currently 0-1 this season after losing to Daeman College, 6-3, back on Sept. 14
th. The Lakers have three more matches scheduled for the Fall including a doubleheader on Sunday Oct. 5
th against Alfred University and a heads up match on Oct. 25
th at Houghton.
Last Year's CampaignThe Pioneers went 3-10 overall last season including an 0-7 mark in the competitive Empire 8 Conference. Utica beat Cazenovia College in the season-opener, The Sage Colleges in mid-season and Keuka College in the regular season finale. UC compiled a 2-5 record on the road and a 1-5 ledger on its home court. Junior
Matt Rogers (East Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) led the Pioneer squad with five wins in singles competition followed
Daniel Fadden (Lakeland, NY/Bishop Ludden), recently graduated, who recorded three victories in singles and junior
Raphael Warnon (Rock Tavern, NY/Washingtonville ) who had two.
Back on the Courts in the SpringUtica returns to action in the Spring of 2015 when the Pioneers head to Rochester, NY for back-to-back matches versus Empire 8 rivals Nazareth and St. John Fisher Colleges. UC will face Naz on Saturday Mar. 28
th before heading across town on Sunday to challenge Fisher.
