Utica, NY (1/15/15)- The Utica College women's basketball team looks to keep its momentum rolling as it hosts an Empire 8 series this weekend. The Pioneers welcome Houghton College Friday night (6 p.m.), followed by a key match up against Nazareth College on Saturday (2 p.m.).

Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) collected a double-double with 12 points and 15 boards in the win over Alfred… Freshmen
Ashley Mayo (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) and
Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) had career days, collecting 16 and 15 points, respectively.
WHERE WE SIT: The Pioneers are 6-8 overall and 2-3 in the Empire 8… UC lost to Ithaca and Stevens early this year by just nine points combined… Utica leads the league with 16.5 offensive rebounds per game.
DOUBLE DIGITS: Junior
Mary Miceli (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) and senior
Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) are each averaging over ten points per game… Miceli leads the team and is tied for 8th in the conference with 14.4 points per game… She has also made an impressive 57-of-70 (81.4%) free throws… Stayer is second on the team with 10.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game… She has recorded two double-doubles in her last four games.
OFF THE GLASS: Senior
Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) leads the team and ranks second in the conference with 9.6 rebounds per game… Greenwald ranks fifth all-time at Utica with 710 career rebounds.
SCOUTING HOUGHTON: The Highlanders are 3-10 overall (0-5 Empire 8) and they are coming off two losses to Alfred and Elmira last weekend… On Friday, they fell 77-74 to Alfred, before losing to Elmira 59-44 on Saturday… Houghton is led by junior Maisie Pipher, who is averaging 18 points and a conference-leading 10.9 rebounds per game… UC lost both games to Houghton last season, by just eight points combined.
SCOUTING NAZ: The Golden Flyers sit fourth in the Empire 8 Conference standings with a 2-1 mark in league play and a 7-5 overall record… Nazareth is led by junior Lindsey Kelly, who is averaging a team-high 15 points and 8.6 rebounds per game… UC lost its first meeting to Naz last year, falling 54-53, before taking the second game 53-41.
LOOKING AHEAD: Next up, the Pioneers will travel to Hartwick College on Tuesday for an E8 match up… Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
