UTICA, NY – The Utica College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision against visiting Bard College on Wednesday night at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. Both of the Raptor's goals came in the first half of play.
It was a special night at Gaetano Stadium as the Pioneers hosted the Syracuse Development Academy U-12 girl's team for starting lineups and a halftime scrimmage. The young ladies walked out with both teams for starting lineups and also scrimmaged during halftime on the turf.
Both of the Bard goals came early in the first half just 2:12 apart. Avalon Qian got the Raptors on the board with her fifth goal of the year at 14:45, while Nicole Ellin scored her first goal of the season at 16:57 for the visitors.
Bard improved to 6-8-1 overall as the Pioneers' record dropped to 3-11-2 overall.
Bard earned a 15-3 shots on goal advantage on the afternoon. Utica goalies
Jamie Enders (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) and
Kimberly Beattie (Levitton, NY/Division Ave) combined for 13 saves in net for the Pioneers.
Utica returns to the pitch on Saturday when the Pioneers host their regular season home finale against Stevens on the UC Grass Soccer Field at 12 p.m.
