UTICA, NY—The Utica College women's basketball team (10-14, 5-9 Empire 8) wraps up its 2014-15 campaign, Friday, as it hosts Alfred University in an Empire 8 showdown… Tip off is set for 6 p.m. at the Harold T. Clark Athletic Center. 
 
SENIOR NIGHT: The Pioneers will honor their four senior players in a pregame ceremony Friday evening… Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills), Marissa Kahane (Sayville, NY/Sayville), Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone), and Adriana Surprenant (Utica, NY/New York Mills) have helped lead Utica to 39 victories over the last four years, including 20 wins in Empire 8 Conference play.
 
KEEPING THE MOMENTUM: Utica will look to keep up its momentum Friday night as the Pioneers are coming off of a 56-40 win against Houghton College… UC used a huge 20-3 first half run to get the ball rolling… Mary Miceli (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) put back 16 points for UC as she shot 6-of-13 from the floor… Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) also added 12 points and seven rebounds.
 
LEADING THE WAY: Miceli continues to lead the team in scoring at 12.3 per game, which ranks 11^th in the conference… She is also lighting it up from the free throw line as she sports a conference-best .824 average… Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) and Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) have been solid on the boards for UC this year resulting in a lot of second chance point opportunities… Greenwald leads the team in rebounding with 9.1 per game (third in the conference), including 96 total offensive rebounds… Stayer is averaging 6.1 rebounds per game (13^th in the conference) and is also second on the squad with 10.1 points per game… Utica is currently ranked first in the Empire 8 in offensive rebounding, with 388 total rebounds off the offensive glass.
 
UTICA DOMINANCE:  Utica has been dominant over Alfred over the past few years and is looking to keep it going… In the last 10 meetings with Alfred, UC is 9-1… This includes a 72-50 win when the two teams met last month… Five different players scored at least ten points to pace the Pioneers, including freshman Ashley Mayo (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet), who netted a career-high 16 points, and classmate Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) (15 points, six rebounds, four steals).
 
THE SAXONS: Alfred (6-17, 2-12 Empire 8) currently sits at eighth in the conference… Alfred's offense leans heavily on the backs of sophomore Amanda Off and senior Harley Cleary… Off leads the E8, tallying 16.6 points per game, and she is also sixth in the conference with 7.8 rebounds per game… Cleary is tallying a solid 13.6 points per game and is second in the conference with 2.1 three-pointers per game… Alfred is coming into the contest as winners in two of their last three games.
