Mount St. Vincent 6, Utica 3 - Final
WINTER HAVEN, FL – The Utica College baseball team had its six game win streak snapped Friday as it lost, 6-3, to the College of Mount St. Vincent on the final day of the 2015 Russ Matt Invitational.
Utica's overall record moved to 6-2 on the season as it wrapped up one of the best spring break campaigns in over 20 years. The Pioneers are set to host their home-opener on Tuesday, March 28
th against Hilbert College, field conditions pending. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled or 1 p.m. at the Utica College Baseball Field.
Mount St. Vincent snapped an eight game skid improving to 3-8 on the season. The Dolphins return to action on Sunday, March 22
nd as they travel to the Bronx to face Lehman College (11 a.m.).
After four innings of scoreless action by both squads, the Dolphins took a 1-0 lead on a two-out single in the top of the fifth. Mount St. Vincent would follow up with four more scores, on four hits and a UC error in the eighth frame to seal to eventual winner.Â
The Pioneers posted three runs in the final two frames as they tallied one in the eighth and two in the ninth, however fell short of the comeback. UC had its sixth game win streak snapped as they closed out the Russ Matt Tourney winning six games compared to just two losses.
Joshua Webb (Verona, NY/VVS) worked seven full frames allowing just one run on three hits. Webb fanned an impressive 11 Dolphins despite being tagged with the loss.Â

Ryon Lupia (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills) knocked in two runs on one hit.
