UTICA, NY – The Utica College men's tennis team dropped its sixth straight match Sunday losing 9-0 to Empire 8 rival Alfred University at the Utica College Tennis Courts.
Matt Rogers (East Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) guided the Pioneers in singles play with six points in two frames however lost, 6-3 and 6-3.
Edgar Aguilar (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) fought in the number six slot for UC grabbing four points in the first frame before losing 6-0 in the second set.
UC falls to 0-6 overall including a 0-4 mark in the Empire 8. Utica returns to the court Wednesday as it travels to Hartwick College for a league match versus the Hawks (4 p.m.).
The Saxons move their overall ledger to 5-3 on the season while collecting their first win in conference play and hold a 1-2 mark in the E8. AU hits the road Monday for a non-conference match against Oswego State (4 p.m.).
