UTICA, NY – The Utica College men's tennis team heads to Oneonta, NY Wednesday for an Empire 8 match against Hartwick College … The contest will take place at the Hartwick Tennis Courts and is set to start at 4 p.m.
THE PIONEERS: Utica is presently 0-6 on the season including a 0-4 ledger in the Empire 8 … UC recently lost back-to-back matches at home to Ithaca College and Alfred University.
ROGER'S LEADING THE WAY: Junior
Matt Rogers (East Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) has guided the Pioneers so far this spring tallying a team-best 20 points in singles play … Rogers also has led doubles competition totaling a combined seven points with several different partners.
HAWKS SCOUTING REPORT: Hartwick is currently 1-4 overall this season including a 0-4 mark in Empire 8 play … After opening up the season with four straight losses, the Hawks recently picked up their first win of the season against Oswego … Wick downed Oswego 5-4 on the road this past Sunday … HC has a 1-2 record on the road while winless at home at 0-2.
BACK IN ACTION: Following Wednesday's match, the Pioneers return home for back-to-back contests over the weekend … UC welcomes Stevens on Saturday and then The Sage Colleges on Sunday … Saturday's match is scheduled for 3 p.m. while Sunday's is set for 1 p.m. at the Utica College Tennis Courts.
