ONEONTA, NY – The Utica College men's tennis team was downed, 8-1, Wednesday afternoon to Hartwick College in Empire 8 play at the Hartwick Tennis Courts. UC was guided by junior
Matt Rogers (East Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) who recorded his first win of the season in singles play.
Rogers took Hartwick's No. 2 into three frames before grabbing the victory (4-6, 6-4, 10-7). He also battled in doubles competition collecting three points however lost as he teamed up with
Joe Castellitto (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac)The Pioneers fall to 0-7 overall including a 0-5 mark in the Empire 8 Conference. Utica returns home this weekend for back-to-back contests against Stevens and The Sage Colleges. UC welcomes Stevens on Saturday for a 3 p.m. match followed by Sage on Sunday for a 1 p.m. scheduled start.
Wick moves its overall record to 2-4 on the season including a 1-4 mark in E8 play.
