UTICA, NY – The Utica College men's tennis team won its first match of the season Sunday as it defeated The Sage Colleges, 6-3, at the UC Tennis Courts.

Junior Matt Rogers won his singles match beating Sage's No. 2 by scores of 6-1 and 6-0 and also teamed up with Joe Castellitto (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) for a win in doubles competition, 8-2.

The Pioneers improve to 1-8 overall and return to the courts Wednesday when they welcome Oswego State. The match is set for 3:30 p.m. at the UC Tennis Courts.

The Gators fall to 1-8 on the season and are back in action Wednesday as they face Green Mountain at 4 p.m.
