UTICA, NY – The Utica College men's tennis team lost 7-2 Friday to Houghton College in Empire 8 action, on the road.  Matt Rogers (East Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) and Ryan Valle (Winthrop, ME/Winthrop High School) led the Pioneers winning their singles match for the teams' two points.

Rogers won 6-4 and 6-2 while Valle posted his first victory of the season in three sets (6-4, 1-6, 12-10). 

UC had to forfeit three matches (two singles, one double) as it fell to 1-10 overall on the season including a 0-7 mark in conference play.  The Pioneers return home Saturday as they welcome Elmira College.  Volley is set for 1 p.m. at the UC Courts.

The Highlanders improve to 7-8 overall including a 3-4 ledger in league play.
