UTICA, NY- The nationally ranked No. 20 University of Rochester proved to be too much for the Utica College field hockey team as the Pioneers fell 2-0 in non-conference action on Sunday. The road team has now won each of the last seven meetings between the two teams.
Â
Rochester remains unbeaten at 5-0 and has now shutout opponents three times this season. The Pioneers drop to 1-4 overall. They return to action Wednesday as they travel to SUNY Geneseo. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Yellowjackets scored one goal in each half to down Utica. Nancy Bansbach netted her first goal of the season at 17:41 as she took a feed from Michelle Relin and ran in alone. Utica's
Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) came out to challenge her, but Bansbach tucked a low shot under the outstretched net minder to put U of R on top. The Yellowjackets added an insurance goal at 56:04 as Relin fired a long shot off a corner for her team-leading third goal of the year.Â
Â
The Pioneers had a number of good scoring chances in the second half, but were unable to solve Rochester's Tara Lamberti, who registered her third shutout in the last five games.Â
Â
U of R outshot Utica 22-7 on the day and held a huge 20-4 advantage on penalty corners. Senior
Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) had a big day in net for UC as she stopped 14 shots in the loss. 14 saves in a game is the most she has made since 2012, when Casey made 16 saves in a 2-1 win over Skidmore.Â
