UTICA, NY- The Utica College volleyball team travels across town to take on the SUNY Poly Wildcats on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Last Time Out: Utica is coming off of a rough outing at the Oswego State Invitational … The first day Utica lost to Oswego 3-0 and to D'Youville College 3-2…On the second day the Pioneers were defeated by Sage College 3-1, and by SUNY Canton 3-0.
Record Breaker: Senior
Lora Allen (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) broke the school record for career assists as she now has 1,559 assists…She currently ranks sixth in the conference with 7.12 assists per set… She leads the team with 317 assists and is third on the team with nine service aces on the year.
Double Trouble: Senior
Laura Homer-Gunther (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit) leads the conference with a .479 hitting percentage…She leads the team in blocks and is second on the team in kills (88) and service aces (11)… Freshman
Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) leads the team in kills (116) and service aces (19)…She is currently fourth in service aces (19), sixth in hitting percentage (.237), and eighth in kills in the conference.
Can You Dig It?: Senior
Alexis Lyon (Prospect, NY/Holland Patent) leads the team with 236 digs so far on the season…She is also first in the conference in average digs per set with 5.29.
Scouting SUNY Poly: SUNY Poly is 8-2 overall and are 3-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play… The Wildcats are currently on an eight game winning streak…SUNY Poly is coming off of a 3-0 victory over St. Elizabeth…Utica is 2-1 against SUNY Poly in their last three meetings…Junior Emma Larson leads the Wildcats in kills with 110, while freshman Sydney Johnson leads the team in assists with 228.
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers begin a three game home stand as Utica College will be hosting the Empire 8 Crossover Tournament…The first game for the Pioneers is scheduled for Saturday morning at 11 a.m. against Ithaca College.Â
