UTICA, NY – The Utica College volleyball team plays its third consecutive match at home on Tuesday against Empire 8 Conference opponent Hartwick College. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Last Time Out: Utica played two games at home on Saturday against Empire 8 opponents Ithaca College and Houghton College… The Pioneers dropped both games, losing 3-0 to Ithaca and 3-1 against Houghton.
 
Digging It: Utica College has three players with over 150 digs so far this season… Alexis Lyon (Prospect, NY/Holland Patent) leads the team with 299 digs… Lyon is first in the conference in average digs per set with 5.38… Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) and Lora Allen (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) are tied for second on the team each having 161 digs.
 
Helping Hand: Senior Lora Allen (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) leads UC in assists with 414… She is sixth in the conference in average assists per set with 7.47… Allen continues to improve her career record in assists, tallying 65 assists on Saturday … She now has 1,656 career assists.
 
Block City: The Pioneers have four players with 10 or more total blocks this season… Laura Homer-Gunther (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit) leads the team with 33 total blocks followed by Brandi Blaszak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) (29), Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) (23), and Samantha Hoerning (Farmingville, NY/Sachem East) (11).
 
Killing It: Utica College has three players with more than 100 kills on the team … Voss leads the team with 147 kills and is eighth in the conference 2.86 with average kills per set… Homer-Gunther is second on the team with 115 kills and Blaszak is third on the team with 106 kills.
 
Scouting Hartwick: The Hawks are 4-13 overall with a 0-2 Empire 8 Conference record so far this year … Hartwick is coming off of a 3-0 loss against Elmira College … UC hasn't beaten the Hawks since October 17, 2009 … Hartwick is led by juniors Hannah Armstrong (150 kills), Quincy Kinzel (224 assists), Alyssa Zeitler (211 digs), and freshman Rachel Jones (47 blocks).
 
Looking Ahead: The women's volleyball team hits the road this weekend for the Stevens Institute of Technology Invitational … On Friday UC takes on Empire 8 opponent Stevens, and on Saturday the Pioneers take on Western Connecticut State and Marrieta College.
