UTICA, NY – The Utica College women's basketball team hosts Elmira College on Friday and Houghton College on Saturday in back-to-back Empire 8 Conference contests. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday and 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Last Time Out: Utica dropped its first home game of the season on Tuesday, after being edged out by Hartwick College, 62-53 … Mary Miceli (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) and Ashley Mayo (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) led the Pioneers with 16 and 14 points, respectively.
 
Home Sweet Home: UC is 5-1 at home and has a chance to improve that record with two home games over the weekend … Utica has outscored its opponents at home 398-359 over six games this season ... Utica's overall record is currently 6-6 and the Pioneers hold a 1-2 mark in the Empire 8.
 
Leading The Way: Mary Miceli (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) and Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) lead the team in points per game with 15.5 and 10.8, respectively … Miceli is seventh in the Empire 8 in points per game, she is seventh in the E8 in field goal percentage (.370), fifth in 3-point percentage (.354), and second in the Empire 8 in 3-pointers per game (2.3) … Babb is third in steals per game (2.2) in the Empire 8 and leads the team with 26 steals.
 
Helping Out: The Pioneers have five players averaging more than six points per game … Ashley Mayo (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) is fourth on the team with 7.5 points per game, followed by Calypso Carty (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks West) who has 7.3 points per game … Alaina Tripp (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) is fifth on the team and averages 6.8 points per game … Mayo has added 46 rebounds, 17 steals, seven assists, and one block on the season while Carty has added 69 rebounds, 19 steals, 12 assists, and two blocks … Tripp has contributed 58 rebounds, 14 steals, four assists, and a team high four blocks.

Strong As of Late: Sophomore forward Alaina Tripp (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) has performed well as of late and is averaging 9.25 points and 7.75 rebounds per game in her last four starts … She saw a season-high 33 minutes of action against Hartwick, netting nine points and grabbing eight rebounds ... Sophomore Ashley Mayo (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) also netted a season-high 14 points and tied her career-high with nine rebounds against Hartwick on Tuesday. 
 
Scouting Elmira: The Soaring Eagles are 3-10 overall with a 0-4 Empire 8 record … Elmira is currently on a five game losing streak including four straight losses to Empire 8 opponents … The Soaring Eagles are led by Danielle Cleary (17.5 points per game, 100 rebounds, 18 assists, 17 steals, and 12 blocks) and Meghan Loya (7.8 points per game, 102 rebounds, eight steals, six assists, and five blocks).
 
Against The Soaring Eagles: UC is 6-4 against Elmira over the last five years … Over that time Utica is 3-2 at home and 3-2 on the road against the Soaring Eagles … Last year, the Pioneers split with Elmira winning 66-60 on the road and losing 53-52 at home.
 
Scouting Houghton: The Highlanders are 6-7 overall with a 0-4 E8 record … Houghton is currently on a four game losing streak, losing four straight game to conference opponents … The Highlanders are led by Elle Reed (15.2 points per game, 43 rebounds, 31 assists, 26 steals and one blocks) and Maisie Pipher (11.5 points per game, 131 rebounds, 28 blocks, 19 steals, and five assists).
 
Against The Highlanders: Utica is 3-3 against Houghton all-time … UC is 2-1 at home and 1-2 on the road against the Highlanders … Last year the Pioneers won both matchups against Houghton winning 65-45 at home and 56-40 on the road.
