HOBOKEN, NJ – The Utica College women's basketball team lost to host Stevens Institute of Technology 57-42 in Empire 8 Conference action on Thursday night. Utica's Alain Tripp led the Pioneers with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Ashelynne Babb added seven points, five rebounds and two steals.
The Pioneers return to the hardwood on Tuesday back at home when they host Hartwick College for a conference contest at 8 p.m. Utica snapped a four game winning streak as its record moved to 6-5 overall and 1-1 in the Empire 8. Stevens improved to 7-3 overall and remained undefeated at 3-0 in the Empire 8.
Stevens jumped out to a 10-0 lead to open the contest to put the Pioneers in an early hole. UC did not give up easily as they fought back to a two point deficit, 25-23, with 3:48 to go in the first half of play. Stevens closed the first half on a 6-2 run to take a seven point lead into the locker room at halftime, 31-24.
Stevens outscored Utica 14-7 in the third quarter and pushed its lead to as many as 16 points, 45-29, with 1:07 left in the third.
Utica rallied early in the final quarter and trailed by 11 points, 47-36, with 6:31 to go, but that was as close as the Pioneers would get as Stevens outscored Utica 10-6 in the final six minutes to earn the 15 point victory.

Ashley Mayo (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) chipped in with nine points and freshman
Rachel Hunter (West Islip, NY/West Islip) added six.
The Ducks were led by 11 points each from Megan Brown and Dylan Krause. Brown also added a team-best 14 rebounds off the bench. Anna Toke pulled down 10 rebounds and poured in six points, while Miranda Ripken chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds.

Mary Miceli (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) registered five points on the afternoon, while
Maggie Tabone (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) added three points and two rebounds off the bench.
