Utica, NY – Utica College field hockey (4-11 overall, 3-4 conference) will be at home for their next contest, as they will host SUNY Geneseo (6-8 overall, 4-2 conference). This non-conference game will be Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
 
Last Time Out: Over this past weekend the team played two games. They went 1-1 as they defeated Houghton (7-7 overall, 2-4 conference) and lost to SUNY Cortland (10-3 overall, 4-0 conference). Rylee Meelan (Clinton, NY/Clinton), Rachael Scaramuzzino (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) and Jordan Noga (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) all scored a goal in the team's 3-2 victory over Houghton. Melissa Koch (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) contributed with two assists. Against Cortland, the team lost 1-0. Goalkeeper Samantha Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) was able to record eight saves on the day.
 
In the Net: Utica's goalkeeper Samantha Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) has racked up the saves this season. She is second in the conference in both total saves with 144 and saves per game with 9.6. She has recorded double digit saves in seven games this year including her career high of 21 against Skidmore College.
 
Leading the Offense: Sophomore Rylee Meelan (Clinton, NY/Clinton) and senior Rachael Scaramuzzino (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) are tied for first on the team in goals this season with five goals each. Rylee Meelan (Clinton, NY/Clinton) leads the team in total points with 11. Melissa Koch (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) has four assists so far this year, which is the most on the team.
 
Scouting Geneseo: SUNY Geneseo is currently on a five game winning streak heading into Thursday's matchup against Utica College. In this five game stretch they have outscored their opponents 26-2. Junior Giovanna Fasanello leads the team in goals with 11, assists with nine, and total points with 31.  The goalkeeper Nicole Gregg has made 69 saves on the year and has allowed 33 goals scored against her.
 
Against Geneseo: The Pioneers are 10-3 all time against SUNY Geneseo. In last years matchup Geneseo defeated Utica 2-1. Tori Couture (Auburn, ME/Edward Little ) scored the lone goal for the team in that game four minutes into the first half. After going down 2-1 early into the second half Utica outshot Geneseo 11-9 in the period, but were unable to tie the game up.
 
Up Next: The next game for Utica is on October 22^nd at home versus Empire 8 opponent Elmira College. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
